The Power of Intention: Deadeyes and the Mothership Project
So there I was with my husband
strolling along the streets of Alameda, my little California town,
thinking about the power of intention
and the amazing things that had transpired in my life
and in the lives of my friends in the past few days.
I thought I'd shoot on over to Redux Studios and Gallery,
an interesting space run by some cool cats into retro and repurposing,
the whole thing being a project of
the Society of St. Vincent de Paul charity folks.
(Good people doing good things.)
The space includes a gallery, a really groovy thrift shop of vintage and
newly repurposed items, and a huge back area where artists can rent
studio space for very little and have access to huge amounts of donated
stuff that they can use in their artwork.
I adore the folks that run the place, and my husband and I have
picked up some great finds there. So, we walked in, and found the space
dominated by a most amazing structure.
Knowing that this was
all about flowing with
the Power of Intention,
I went inside, sat down,
and started filming:
I would have like to have known more about the project as I filmed,
but to be honest, I figured "play first, learn later".

Deadeye's art is influenced by jazz, movies, the streets,
the African art of his forebears,
Sun Ra and the aesthetics of Afro-Futurism,
and the found objects and materials he uses in his work.
My time spent surrounded by his work and his vision
was inspiring and vibration-raising. Clearly a man
steeped in the Power of Intention.
